Hospitality Bill Signed at Centennial Olympic Park

Governor Sonny Perdue signed legislation Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park creating the New Georgia Tourism Foundation (SB125). The bill signing ceremony followed a tour of the Georgia Aquarium that is under construction adjacent to the Park.

SB125 provides Georgia's tourism agencies and local communities with a new tool to promote the state's outstanding array of tourist attractions. This tourism legislation will create a new public-private foundation to maximize and consolidate Georgia's tourism marketing efforts, attract more visitors and increase the industry's economic impact throughout the state.

A lasting legacy of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Centennial Olympic Park has become a performing-arts venue, community gathering-space and an anchor for downtown development. The Georgia World Congress Center Authority operates the 21-acre Park, as well as the Georgia Dome and Georgia World Congress Center. The three state-owned facilities are one of the largest combined sports, entertainment and convention center facilities in the world.
