| 2005 Towering Termite Tour
Scheduled for Fourth Saturday Family Fun Day |
In
addition to activities related to the June Fourth
Saturday Family Fun Day theme, "Our Many
Cultures," Centennial Olympic Park will
host the 2005 Towering Termite Tour on June
25, 2005.
The world's largest traveling interactive termite
exhibit housed in a two-story high inflatable
termite, the exhibit is swarming into Atlanta
just in time to teach curious kids and parents
about the good, the bad, and the just plain
strange sides of these destructive bugs. Designed
to educate and entertain, the belly of this
bug (which is 69,000 times the size of a real
termite) houses terrariums of real termite colonies,
unusual materials attacked by termites like
piano keys and magazines, fun learning games,
strange but true termite facts (for every human
on Earth, entomologists calculate there may
be as many as 1,000 pounds of termites!) and
valuable take home information for parents.

A lasting legacy of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Centennial Olympic Park has become a performing-arts venue, community gathering-space and an anchor for downtown development. The Georgia World Congress Center Authority operates the 21-acre Park, as well as the Georgia Dome and Georgia World Congress Center. The three state-owned facilities are one of the largest combined sports, entertainment and convention center facilities in the world. |
