(Atlanta—December 1, 2006) The Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome and surrounding areas will be action packed this weekend! The SEC Championship Game returns to the Georgia Dome on Saturday, December 2 with a 6 p.m. kickoff. The oldest of the major conference title games, the game dates back to 1992. This year, the rich history of the SEC returns to the Georgia Dome as the Arkansas Razorbacks face the Florida Gators! The Dr Pepper SEC FanFare will be Friday and Saturday and includes many interactive games and attractions. The 200,000-square-foot event is just a short walk across West Plaza from the Georgia Dome to the Georgia World Congress Center (Halls C1 & C2). FanFare will be open 2-9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m.–6 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is $8 daily and $4 for children four feet and under. The Festival of Trees, Atlanta’s premier holiday event, benefits Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Visitors can stroll through 154,000 square feet of decorated trees, wreaths and decorator vignettes created by the city’s top artists and designers. Festival of Trees is located in the Georgia World Congress Center Hall A1 and will run from December 2-10. Adult tickets cost $12 and tickets for children (2-12) cost $6. To kick off the Festival of Trees, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will host their annual Christmas Parade Saturday morning from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The 2006 Children's Christmas Parade begins at Peachtree Street near Baker Street. The route follows Peachtree Street and turns right onto Marietta Street. It will then turn left and end on Centennial Olympic Park Drive. Atlanta’s only outdoor ice skating rink is located at the north end of Centennial Olympic Park and is open Nov.18 - Jan. 7. Admission is $6 per person for a 90 minute session and skate rental is an additional $2. New this year—Enjoy the electric Penguin Train! The train will run through December 31 on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and only costs $2. To “Make it a Breeze” fans should purchase two one-way Breeze tickets at the beginning of their trip to avoid long lines after events. The Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center Station serves the Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park.
