Events cancelled at Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome & Centennial Olympic Park

ATLANTA, GA, March 15, 2008 – Due to the severe storm which hit downtown Atlanta on Friday evening, all weekend events at the Georgia World Congress Center, Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park have been cancelled.

The Southeastern Conference Basketball Tournament, the SEC Fanfare, Atlanta Home Show, Hinman Dental Meeting and the Red Bull Illume exhibit, as well as several smaller private events, were scheduled for this weekend.

Friday night’s fourth game of the SEC Tournament was postponed. The remaining games will be played at Georgia Tech’s Alexander Memorial Coliseum.

Safety and security are top priorities for the Georgia World Congress Center Authority and officials decided after an initial assessment of damages to cancel or postpone all events on campus.

GWCCA officials did confirm there was storm damage to all three venues.

Assessment of the damage is ongoing and regular updates will be provided.
